Ireland's State of the Environment Report 2024

121 Chapter 5: Land A high-level land ownership assessment (Figure 5.6) conducted during phase 1 of the Land Use Review identified that 78% of Ireland’s land is privately owned (DAFM and DECC, 2023b). This influences how land use decisions are made and what land management practices may be adopted. The ownership profile demonstrates that high-level stakeholder engagement and buy-in are critical to underpin the development and realisation of any vision for overall land use in the longer term.
