Ireland’s Environment – An Integrated Assessment 2020 Across Europe, the IED regulates around 50,000 of the largest industrial installations, covering a wide range of sectors. Installations include power plants, cement, lime, chemicals, food and drink, waste treatment, incineration and the intensive rearing of pigs and poultry. There are over 800 active installations in Ireland. The key sectors licensed by the EPA are illustrated in Figure 10.3.
